The journey at Life Learning Center always begins with a single question: What do you want to be? Once someone chooses a new direction for their life, we enable that choice through our curriculum, tools, resources and support. Our “no excuses” policy means that if there’s something standing in their way, we have a solution to remove that barrier.

The people who we invite into the Life Learning Center program are ready to take accountability for their mistakes and choices and live a better life. One of the ways we support their new direction is by providing the tools and resources they need to secure and sustain employment—because we know that employment is a catalyst for agency and personal fulfillment, and that this particular community is full of untapped potential. We teach them valuable life skills that prepare them to make meaningful contributions in the workforce and continue to support them as they advance in their careers.

Serve as a volunteer

Our volunteers are essential to the transformational changes that are made at Life Learning Center. Volunteer Faculty members lead classroom curriculum, group exercises and individual breakout sessions. We also count on volunteers to help with fundraising, assist us at special events, and much more. We are careful to match every volunteer with the right opportunity—so whether you’d like to work directly with Candidates or behind the scenes, we can find a role for you!

We provide the tools, resources and support our Candidates and Members need to choose a different life. By transforming themselves, they transform their communities and build a better future for everyone.

Members who have experienced incarceration are far less likely to reoffend after completing our program: Our 6% recidivism rate is in stark contrast to the nation’s 83% average.

 

Studies show that employment is the single most important factor in decreasing recidivism and reducing the economic and financial burden for taxpayers.

By helping people find and sustain employment, we’ve put $7.2 million back into the economy with an average salary of $19/hour.

 

87% of Candidates were employed prior to graduation, and 100% of individuals were employed to matriculated to post-secondary education when they gained Member status.
